TMC pushes for renaming West Bengal to 'Bangla' during Zero Hour in Parliament
Over 4 lakh pilgrims have received certificates from 13 booths organized by Bandhan authorities in preparation for the ongoing religious festivities. With an estimated 55 lakh people expected to attend, authorities have put comprehensive measures in place to manage the crowd and ensure safety. 1000 government personnel are working around the clock to oversee logistics, security, and crowd control, while the speed of all vehicles has been restricted to 40 kilometers per hour. A Sagar Bandhu has been assigned to each bus for assistance.
Power consumption has increased significantly, from 2 megawatts in 2011 to an expected 47 megawatts in 2025. To ensure safe navigation, 24 navigation lights have been installed along the Moody Ganga, with 24 drones deployed for aerial surveillance. 1150 CCTV cameras and 11 satellite phones are in place for continuous monitoring and communication. Authorities have also set up 16 buffer zones to manage crowd flow.
Medical teams are on standby with 14 mobile treatment vans. However, there have been three fatalities reported so far: Avadesh Tiwari (Uttar Pradesh), Deb (59, Haryana), and Devi Lal Yadav (75, Bihar). The bodies of the deceased have been airlifted to their respective locations. Authorities also reported 46 pickpocketing incidents, leading to 42 arrests and the recovery of stolen items. A total of 853 people were reported missing, with 803 successfully reunited with their families.
